Privatizing public education is the antithesis of progressivism. First, demanding accountability for charter schools is not the same as trying to get rid of them. Second, the proliferation of charter schools has re-segregated our schools:
As a group, they serve a smaller percentage of students with severe special education needs:
A lack of meaningful oversight endangers children:
And breeds opportunities for self-serving:
Both Jackie Goldberg and Scott Schmerelson have the experience and the moral compass to protect the 80% of students who attend LAUSD schools.
